Traversing Thursday
OK so I lied. I'm still in lazy-mode, it's been over a whole month since I last posted. So slap me. Hard.
Following on the the last post...
The wireless access point I posted off that day arrived in Sydney the next morning and a replacement sent out the same day, arriving the day after that - really damn good warranty service.
As for my comms mast, boy has that been built and changed heaps over the past few weeks - see here.
School-wise, nothing interesting happened over the six weeks of the term (that went real quick too). Though there was the annual swimming carnival for which I did some photo shooting for, which was quite fun. We also found a crapload more flaws in the network, including a bunch of incriminating evidence of naughty stuff for later 'use'. Queen fansites. Say no more.
The term lasted for six weeks before we had a 2 week holiday for the Commonwealth Games. I was involved with the tech crew as well as media (doing photo shoots).
The opening ceremony was 2 Wednesdays ago and Bendigo had a little ceremony of its own, setup in the Civic Gardens, though it only went for half an hour before everyone sat back and watched the ceremony in Melbourne on a big LED screen set up in the Gardens for the duration of the games (fancily called a 'Live Site'). During the night, I met a few Bytecraft guys, one of which was on the team which designed and built the Olympic torch for the Queens Baton Relay. While I was working, during my lunch break I would pop down and see how they were going.
The next day we had Killing Heidi come play for an hour which was quite cool. I did some photoshooting for it too, might put up the gallery sometime...
The next week and a bit of the holidays was mostly working at Jaycar, but I went to the basketball and shooting for a little bit for some photoshooting. On a different note, from a management point of view the Games were actually quite disorganised. Our security passes didn't arrive until three days into the Games, the duck trainer arrived late to the opening ceremony and security and management two-way radios were even on UHF CB for some venues, among many other things.
Interestingly I didn't go to the cinemas at all during the holidays, though last Saturday I went around to a friends place for a movie night/party.
In other things, I joined the CFA during the holidays as a volunteer and I also went to TAFE to do the test and tag and cabling courses.
This week was filled with the usual school stuff, including finding out that I'm spending next week at school doing the bloody promo video stuff instead of going to work. Next week is 'camps week', where all the senior school year levels go on camp/work experience/arty stuff. Meh. I'll live. Maybe. Someone will die.

Hopefully you'll see some posts more regularly again...
Have a good night and look after yourselves.
